Wilderness Adventure Guide
Training (Two or Four Week Modules)
Learn the fundamental skills required for guiding wilderness
adventures. These educational programs are designed to hone your
business skills in adventure tourism or to teach you a new
appreciation for the wilderness.
We can provide participants with a solid combination of
working knowledge and practical skills for horse handling, horse
shoeing, packing a horse (both single and double diamond), camp
preparations, range and feed management, leading tours in a
wilderness environment, guests safety and liability issues,
grazing techniques in the wilderness including staking,
hobbling, highline etc, working with teams, plant and wildlife
identification and so much more.
Your instructor is owner and operator, Warren
Menhinick. Enjoying his entire life being brought
up in the industry he now shares his seventeen
years career of hands on experience with students from all over
with diverse back grounds and interests. Warren
has also worked for some of BC.s most famous cattle
ranches and is able to provide students with a knowledge of
working with cattle, different techniques learned from the
traditional cowboy ways and of course the fine are of
storytelling around a campfire. We are strong believers that the
best way to learn is doing, and all our classes certainly
experience all the aspects of working with horses in the
wilderness and in the tourism industry. By applying this
knowledge in the field every student will walk away with a new
found confidence as well as enough memories to cherish for a
lifetime.
With a large herd of healthy horses to choose from we
are able to train students to deal with a multitude of horse
personalities. From unstarted colts, to four year
olds that need some schooling too, to the well mannered
faithful gelding or the mares in estrus we are sure to
provide you with diverse situations. We keep our
classes to a maximum of six students to
provide quality hands on instruction and an intense as well
as fun program. Each student is encouraged to work with there
own designated horses. Time is provided after class for
those students who may require extra time honing their
skills. A log book will help us keep track of everyone's
progress.
This program is registered with the Private Post Secondary
Education Commission, now PCTIA and Human Resource Funding is
available.
